How to add a LINE add friend button to your website

Copy your LINE Official Account's add-friend link into the Direct Contact card, and visitors add you on LINE in one tap.

Paste your LINE Official Account’s add-friend link under LINE Invite Link in a Direct Contact card, then publish. Your page shows a LINE button, and visitors who tap it on their phone land straight on your account’s add-friend screen, with no ID to search for.

The link must be a full address starting with https://line.me/ or https://lin.ee/. Anything else shows no button.

  • In LINE Official Account Manager, find the tools for gaining friends, choose the URL option and copy it. It is usually a short lin.ee address.
  • If you only know your account ID, put it after https://line.me/R/ti/p/, as in https://line.me/R/ti/p/@yourshop. That works as an add-friend link too.

Open the link on your phone once before you use it. Check that it opens your business account, not your personal one.

Put it on your page

  1. In the editor, choose Add card, open the Features tab and choose Direct Contact. If the page already has one, select it on the canvas.
  2. Paste the link under LINE Invite Link.
  3. If the field says This is not a usable LINE link, the address is in the wrong format. Paste the full link instead.
  4. Fill in other channels on the same card, such as your phone number or Instagram, so visitors can pick the one they already use.
  5. In Page settings and publishing, choose Publish.
  6. Open your page on a phone, tap the LINE button, and check that the add-friend screen opens.

Pages made a while ago may hold an old-style ID, such as @yourshop, in this field. The page turns it into an add-friend link, but pasting the full link now makes it easier to check later.

Where to place it

Where the button sits decides how many people use it.

  • Appointment-based businesses, such as nail, hair or massage studios: drag the Direct Contact card near the top. Adding you on LINE to book is the first thing visitors do.
  • Cafes, restaurants and shops: place it after your opening hours and map, so people check that you are open before they message you.
  • If people often view your page on a computer, also add a QR Code card and paste the same link under Link. They scan it with their phone to add you. On phones this card shows only its button, since a phone cannot scan its own screen.

Reach visitors who do not use LINE

LINE is the everyday messaging app in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, but visitors from elsewhere may not have it. Keep a second channel on the same card, such as a phone number or WhatsApp, so nobody leaves without a way to reach you.

Questions

The LINE button does nothing, or opens the wrong account. What now?

Open the link you pasted directly on your phone. If it does not open the right account, the link itself is wrong, so copy it again from LINE Official Account Manager. If the link is right but your page still shows the old one, your edit is not published yet: choose Publish changes in Page settings and publishing.

Can I use my personal LINE account instead?

Yes, as long as the add-friend address starts with line.me. A personal account has no automatic replies or broadcast messages, though, so an official account is the better choice for talking to customers.

Start from a template

To see a LINE booking button on a real page, open the Linen Hour nail studio template and change the name and link to yours before you sign in.
