Compress images to WebP, without uploading

Choose your photos and what they are for. Your browser shrinks them, turns them into WebP and hands them back to download.

Nothing is uploaded to any server: all the work happens in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Drop your images on the box, or choose them: up to 20 JPEG, PNG or WebP files.
  2. Pick what they are for: a website, LINE and social posts, the same size, or a long edge of your own.
  3. Download each image, or all of them at once, and use the new files in place of the old ones.

Questions

Why is nothing uploaded?

Your browser does the compressing with its own image tools. The photos stay on your computer, and no server ever receives them. So private photos are safe here too.

Which browsers can show WebP?

Every current browser shows WebP: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari from version 14. If your browser cannot write WebP, as on an iPhone, this tool gives you JPEG instead, or PNG for a PNG.

What does quality 82 mean?

WebP quality runs from 0 to 100: higher keeps more detail in a bigger file. At 82 a photo looks almost the same, at a fraction of the size. Every choice here uses 82.

How big should a picture for LINE be?

1200 pixels on the long edge is sharp on a phone screen. The file stays small, so it sends quickly. The LINE and social posts choice makes exactly that.

Do you keep my images?

No. Nothing is sent to us, so there is nothing to keep. Closing the page clears them from your browser as well.
